Dr Baldev Raj, director, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, has been selected for the International Committee of Non-Destructive Testing (ICNDT ) Research Award in recognition of his research and contribution to Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) Science and Technology. A press release in Chennai said the award was conferred on the best researcher internationally once in four years. Dr Baldev has about 550 publications, 26 books and 15 patents to his credit. His books are widely used as textbooks and valued by researchers and industrial practitioners. Anish Kumar, a Phd student of Dr Baldev Raj, gets the Young Achiever Award from the same forum for his contribution in the area of 'Materials Characterisation Using Ultrasonic Methodology and Modelling'.
The awards would be presented during the inaugural ceremony of the 16th World Conference on Non-Destructive Testing in Montreal, Canada, in August this year.
