MAPS worker exposed to radiation
Mumbai, August 22: The Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) today said the worker at Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS), who was exposed to high dose of radiation on July 24, was relieved of radiation work as per administrative procedures although the radiation exposure is unlikely to cause any significant harm to the individual.
Congratulations Dr. N. Kamala Annal
Dr. N. Kamala Annal has passed her M.D (General Medicine) Exams in the first attempt. She did her course at Chennai Medical College. She is now back at Kalpakkam DAE Hospital serving the Kalpakkam people. Her husband Dr. Aravazhi Annal is also back at work after completing a course as an Associate Fellow of Industrial Health at Central Labour Institute, Mumbai. We wish the couple many more success in their career. We are proud to have them at Kalpakkam.
Kendriya Vidyalaya fined for wrongful transfer

NEW DELHI: Coming down heavily on Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan for transferring a teacher in violation of guidelines, the Central Administrative Tribunal has directed the key officers of the Sangathan to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 to the teacher.

CHENNAI: For the first time, corrosion-free High Nitrogen Steel (HNS), a new technological innovation, will be used in the country in the prototype 500 mw fast breeder reactor (FBR) being planned at the atomic power plant at Kalpakkam near here, according to a top plant official.
